HK’s Unemployment Insurance Fund - a good investment
When you work in Denmark you are able to take out insurance against unemployment. This means that if you lose your job, you receive a monthly insurance payment.
HK’s Unemployment Insurance Fund covers 250.000 members. It is one of Denmark’s largest unemployment insurance providers. Founded more than 100 years ago, HK has unmatched expertise in its field.
How does it work?
Each month you pay a monthly fee, which can be written off against your Danish tax payments. When you have made payments for 12 consecutive months you are eligible for cover.
If you have been made redundant, your monthly insurance payment will be paid directly into your bank account in your first month of redundancy. Should you choose to leave your position, there is a 3-month waiting period before cover applies.
What do you get?
A full paying member receives a monthly sum of up to 17.073.- DKK. Furthermore you can consult HK’s job advisors and receive help in connection with your job application process, including advice on how to write a successful CV.
You also have access to networks and are invited to attend relevant job meetings (only in Danish).
What does it cost?
Before tax reduction the monthly charge for a full paying member of HK’s Unemployment Insurance Fund is 451 DKK .
