80 % OF YOUR SALARY FOR SIX MONTHS
A mere DKK 79 a month will allow you economic security if you have the misfortune to be made redundant. With HK Collective Salary Insurance, you will be paid 80 % of your salary for up to six months.
YOU ARE AUTOMATICALLY PART OF THE SCHEME WHICH YOU CAN DEDUCT FROM YOUR TAXES
If you are a member of HK/Private as well as HK’s unemployment fund and meet a residence requirement, you are covered by HK Collective Salary Insurance.

HK Collective Salary Insurance costs DKK 79 a month for members of HK/Private. The price is the same for all members of HK/Private regardless of how much you earn and for how long you have been a member.
The DKK 79 will be paid together with your HK membership fee and your unemployment fund membership fee. The amount is fully tax-deductible, but you do not have to do anything to deduct the amount from your taxes. That happens automatically when HK reports to the Danish tax authorities (Skat).
THERE ARE CERTAIN REQUIREMENTS THAT YOU HAVE TO MEET
In order to receive money from HK Collective Salary Insurance, you must have made unemployment fund payments for at least 12 months. Furthermore, you must have been in “ordinary and unsubsidised employment” for a minimum of 12 months prior to your unemployment.
You have to be entitled to receive unemployment benefits for a full period according to the general unemployment benefit rules without quarantine. Therefore, early retirees, old-age pensioners, students, students in further educations, school leavers who pay a reduced membership fee, flexiworkers and members in senior jobs or who receive relief benefits cannot be part of the salary insurance scheme. Therefore, those members do not have to pay money into the scheme.
Adult trainees who choose to pay the full membership fee to HK/Private or to HK's unemployment fund will automatically be included in HK Collective Salary Insurance.
HOW HK COLLECTIVE SALARY INSURANCE PROVIDES COVER
You are covered by HK Collective Salary Insurance if you have been made redundant. The insurance does not cover if you choose to give notice.
You will receive up to 80 % of your previous salary depending on how much you earned beforehand. You may receive money for up to six months, corresponding to 962 hours.
The salary insurance is a supplement to the unemployment benefit of between DKK 595 and DKK 35,117 per month depending on your monthly salary for the past three months before you were made redundant. The salary insurance covers your basic salary but also qualification allowances and special-duty allowances, the value of your company car and company-paid telephone and certain forms of flat-rate allowances due to e.g. working hours outside of normal hours. Pension contributions and overtime payment is not included.
If, for example, you work as a temporary worker for one week, you will not receive the salary insurance payment (or unemployment benefits) for that week. However, you may stretch your salary insurance so that it will be valid for more than the six months that equal 962 hours.
The money will be paid to you on a monthly basis via your NemKonto(Easy Account) at the middle of the month after you have received your unemployment benefit payment.
HOW TO REQUALIFY FOR THE SALARY INSURANCE
When you have used up the salary insurance, you can requalify for HK Collective Salary Insurance by having worked for 12 months and having had enough hours for a new placing in the unemployment fund.
IF YOU HAVE OTHER SALARY INSURANCES
If you have taken out a private salary insurance, you should reconsider whether it is still necessary. You should contact your insurance company to find out whether you can defer payment from the insurance company until after the first six months when you will receive money from HK Collective Salary Insurance. If you have HK's individual salary insurance, you may use it as a supplement and receive payments for up to 18 months.
COMPENSATION FOR THOSE FEW PEOPLE WHO CANNOT PUT THE SALARY INSURANCE TO USE
If your monthly salary was less than DKK 23,500, the unemployment benefit already covers 90 % of your previous salary. Therefore, you will not be able to use HK Collective Salary Insurance. This is because according to the Danish law on unemployment insurance, a maximum of 90 % of a person's previous salary may be paid in unemployment benefits and salary insurance.
That allows no space to receive the minimum payment from the salary insurance of DKK 595 a month.
However, you do not have to pay the trade union membership fee to HK for that same period in which you would have been entitled to the salary insurance.

THIS IS HOW MUCH YOU WILL RECEIVE IN SALARY INSURANCE PAYMENTS FOR SIX MONTHS IN ADDITION TO THE UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS AS A FULL-TIME INSURED OF THE UNEMPLOYMENT FUND
The calculations show the salary insurance for full-time insureds and are based on the salary level for the majority of HK/Private’s members. Members who earn more may receive salary insurance of up to DKK 35,117 a month depending on the monthly salary. Part-time insureds may also receive money from the salary insurance.

* If you are part of a pension scheme, please note that pension contributions are not included in the statement of your monthly salary. This applies to your own pension contribution as well as your employer's pension contribution. Your own pension contribution should therefore be deducted from your salary when calculating your payment from the salary insurance. Your own pension contribution is often half of the employer's contribution. Typically, your pension contribution is 4 % and your employer's pension contribution is 8 %. Read about the entire salary basis when calculating insurance benefits in clause 7.1.6 of the insurance terms and conditions.
** However, the insurance benefit paid can never exceed 90 % of the salary calculated by the unemployment fund together with the unemployment benefit.
