10.15 Opening Keynote: Superpowered by AI: Nordic Healthcare Administrative Staff Taking the Lead
Henning Langberg, dr. med, professor
The Nordic healthcare system is moving into a new phase with increased digitalisation, task shifting and “hospital@home” models combined with patients expecting customer service 24/7.
Professor Henning Langberg explores how this will impact the task for healthcare administrative staff and how AI, large language models and chat-based tools will transform their daily work. Routine administrative tasks, booking and standard communication will gradually be supported by digital “co-workers”, freeing time for coordination, health management and closer support to patients and clinicians. This development will both relieve and challenge the profession – new skills, new responsibilities and new expectations.
The key message is clear: Healthcare administrative staff should not wait for others to decide how AI impacts their profession. Time is now to take the lead and embrace technology to create better work–life balance, remove repetitive tasks to position your profession as the new “superpower” in Nordic healthcare.

This presentation provides a clear overview of the most current threats and explains how a hacker thinks and attempts to gain access to our health data. Søren Bank Greenfield and Ole Fisker from the Danish Health Data Authority show how healthcare administrative staff can strengthen everyday security practices and contribute to a more robust and secure healthcare system.

Raluca A. Stana, PhD, Associate Professor in Digital Transformation
The AI hype is on everyone’s lips and has entered hospitals too. But when hope meets reality, it is the staff on the floor who must keep the hype alive in practice.
In this talk, we explore the hidden costs of AI for healthcare administrative staff: Invisible work, growing documentation burden, workflow disruptions, and their consequences: technostress.
The purpose is to offer a realistic and balanced perspective on digitalization and AI, empowering you with research-based insights to reclaim the space to be a human worker whose mission is human care, not machine care.
